Tombola!

An original idea.
It is told at Christmas 2018 in Paris, in the gallery Etienne de Causans. We talk about an antique game created in 1734 in Naples. The symbolic and often very original meaning of the 90 numbers is based on the enchanting imagination of the population.
A collective of artists from various fields has dealt with the question of fate. Every artist in a very personal way. With passion, creativity and sensitivity. The result are 90 “small” works of art. All in the same dimension and yet so different in their statement. As the artists are.
90 artists have thus united their power to celebrate a great common festival in December 2018.
The interpretation of a common game becomes the content of an art exhibition and the expression of various artistic manuscripts, languages, colors, techniques.
Always at the free choice of the artist. The result is a fascinating, multifaceted and kaleidoscopic overall picture.
A unique encounter with contemporary art. An interesting and playful project, in the format 40x40cm, to tell a charming idea.
Based on small works of art which are accessible to all persons.

Mad for Naples and Mad for Somma Vesuvio

Tuesday, 17. January 2017

From 4th June to 18th June 2017
Mad for Naples and Mad for Somma Vesuvio
Ab Ovo - from the origin - second edition 2016-2018
A workshop - an international  Art Project
in collaboration with the gallery Monteoliveto in Naples, Italy
www.galleriamonteoliveto.it
The project purpose is to have international artists to come in our difficult but so beautiful city during two years
and give a new glance of the city away from the traditional view of Vesuvius, sun, sea and songs; obviously you will find all this in Naples, but we would like to have the personal artistic point of view of the artists. Each artist will thus interpret what he / she will feel about our region living in the area for two weeks and going to art places and sites to absorb the athmosphere. The artist will then realize her/his own work. The works will be on show at the end of the project in Summer 2018 in a prestigious location in the area of Naples . In combination there will be realized a professional catalogue of the participants and their works. The project will also be proposed to museums, galleries and public spaces in order to give them the maximum of diffusion and  great visibility.
Naples (Napule) is an everyday theater full of pulsating life. Naples is a must to visit in life. Voices which constantly speak their distinctive dialect. A stroll in the pictoresques streets is like taking part in a play of a lively market. Here life takes place in all its facets.
"For me Naples is undoubtedly the most beautiful city in the world" (free personal translation)
(Stendhal)

Impressions of the exhibition at the Gallery Boehner in Mannheim

Monday, 24. October 2011

Excerpt from the speech of 21.10.2011, Dr. Helmut Orpel, Gallery Böhner:

" When it comes to art, Alexandra Khan is a world traveler. She has been inspired to her new paintings by an extended stay in Costa Rica, where she studied the art of indigenous peoples.

On their expressive power she has evolved artistically. She walked the same way as European art at the beginning of the twentieth century, when it was recognized that the formal vocabulary of humanity is much greater than the Euro-centric view would admit it.

From October 2011 to March 2012 at the Gallery Boehner in Mannheim

(Granada, Lago Cocibolca and surrounding area) On the banks of "Mar Dulce"

If someones connects to me my eyes and leaves me in the Columbus Park, I would know anyway, I'm in Granada.
The bells of the moving ice-cream vendor, the noise of passing horse-drawn carriages and the murmur of soft voices would tell me.

The Colosuca was a woman who was transformed by God into a bird

Wednesday, 27. October 2010

The legend tells... that a poor widow went out to the forest in search of food for her 10 children. Finding only a few fruits, she cried out "Lord, help me, I'm alone and cannot feed my children!" Her voice was shaking and her eyes filled with tears.
